Life's Little Pleasures

Rain on the Windscreen
posted on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:58 PM | 0 cmnt/s

So it's just past 2.30 and I only crawled out of bed an hour and a half ago. Doing the math, that means I didn't get up until 1pm. For those that know me, you'll know that this is extremely out of character. The reasoning? Despite the fact that I didn't get home until 2.50am this morning, the season seems to (at least temporarily) turned. I can seriously think of nothing better than to stay crawled up in bed on such a rainy day. The thing that I love most is hearing the rain fall outside knowing that it's perfectly overcast. I dunno, just seems reassuring to me.

You could go all English lit on this and interpret it as symbolic of the harsh reality of life, but still being able to find a sanctum within and by yourself. I mean, you could look at it that way, but I think that would be looking into it too much. Really, how much symbolism can you get out of sleeping in on a weekday now that uni holidays have begun?!? Gosh you people are silly for looking into it so much! Sometimes a rock is just a rock ;)

So I'm now sitting in my car outside the high school to pick my brother up. Bella is in the backseat. I always feel so bad when I take her to pick Thomas up because I get her all hyped up by telling her that we're going for a drive, then I only drive 2 mins up the road to wait in the car for 10 mins to drive back 2 mins up the road. Poor dog. The terrible thing is that she always gives you that look when you get back home as if to say "is that all?!" Dogs are so funny. They are so intelligent. Anyways, enough talk about my dog. And Thomas is here now too.

Talk later!

Firstly, today's question: What book have you been meaning to read?
Answer: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I started reading it last year, but got distracted and never came back to it. So I suppose it should be the next book that I read.

In the meantime, I'm currently cleaning my room. Note the use of the word *currently*. "What!?!?" I hear you ask? "How can you be cleaning your room whilst sitting at your desk typing this post!?!?" Simple answer: I can only do either thing at once, which means that I'm not really cleaning my room at the moment. Which means that my room is still maintaining its messy appearance whilst I distract you, my reader, with this useless crap about how my room isn't being cleaned. HA! Fooled you.

Ok, enough rubbish on the net, I'd better more onto the rubbish that is littering my floor.

Questionable Questions???

So I purchased a book today called 'Romantic Questions'. I know, I know. Stupid title. But hear me out! It's a book full if questions which you supposedly ask your lover to find out more about each other, or I suppose about yourself. Well I'm intending to use it to, I suppose, tell you more about myself, me to explore myself, and to feel self-centered for a moment or two. I hope to be able to answer one question a day, but knowing me, I'll probably give up within a week. But hopefully I can stick it out for as long as possible. There are apparently 264 questions in the book, so if I do one a day, you can do the math. I hope to start at the very beginning of the book and work my way through. I suppose I'd better get onto it then!!!

Question #1: What is the most mysterious thing about the opposite sex?
Answer: hmm... Tough question. I guess i'd probably say their relationships, particularly friendships. I don't really know how to explain it. It just interests me the way men form friendships. I suppose in that case it is more intrigue than mystery, so I suppose I haven't really answered the question sufficiently. Oh well. Ok, now let me really think about a proper answer................ Nope, I'm pretty sure that's the best answer that you're going to get from me.

Pirated
posted on at 12:17 AM | 0 cmnt/s

Just saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I hadn't expected too much. I mean, seriously how can you do a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without either Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightly? But I was rather pleasantly surprised. The lack of OB and KK was made up with the appearance of our notable favorite pirate cast, as well as the new and familiar faces of Penelope Cruz and, my personal favorite, Richard Griffiths.

There becomes a certain level of impossibility that you come to expect from a Pirates movie. For example, would it really be possible to escape for being tied around a tree by climbing up it backwards then swinging for tree to tree on the same rope that held you?! But suspension of disbelief is a beautiful thing, so I can put this matter to the side. Furthermore, it is a Disney movie after-all, so you do come to expect a level of impossibility... Which certainly wasn't lacking in this latest film.

On thing I did find lacking in comparison to previous films, if I were to be picky, is that it just wasn't as funny. There certainly weren't as many fantastic one-liners, or if there were, they were clearly missed on me. Despite this, I still managed to have a grin on my face for the entire movie which undoubtedly seems to reflect the enjoyable nature of the film.

On another note, once again in Pirate style (save for At Worlds End), the conclusion (or lack there if) lends itself easily to another installment, for better or for worse. I am still in two minds regarding this. I personally felt that they should have left it at just the three movies. Having said that, I'm sure I would enjoy another action-packed hour and a half if piratey goodness!

All in all a very enjoyable movie, and I give it 4 bottles of rum out of 5.

... On useless apps for my iPhone so that I would be able to post on this blog on the move. Nothing has worked, so I think I might just have to resort to using it straight from my net, rather than an EASY to use application alternative. God apps can be frustrating.

Old fashion way often is the best way.

What frustrates me though, is that even on here I can't upload photos!!! Which exactly the thing that I want to do!!! Gahhh Technology frustrates the heck out of me!!!

Yay!

Ok... So I've got this new app on my iPhone that I'm testing out. It's hopefully going to allow me to update this blog more too since I can basically upload a post whenever I want and wherever I am. So basically... Stay tuned for more to come!
