Curves

Curves are a wonderful thing. They show that a woman is real: not fake or plastic. I think I'm starting to realise that I have curves, they're got going away, but they make me who I am.

This realisation came after flipping through another trashy magazine and seeing a article about what celebs really weigh. You'd be surprised how many are just as curvy as you (maybe, since I don't know who 'you' actually are) and I (but I know who I am!). Not everyone in Hollywood weighs 40kg and looks like they haven't eaten in a year. But you see pictures of some of them who you honestly think are beautiful, then when you take a better look, you realise that they don't look much different to you. Take Hillary Duff for example. I really do think she's a real celeb who, yes, does have curves, but still manages to look amazing.

When it comes down to it, stuff your dress size, it's really all about wearing clothes that suit your body shape. If you can hide those parts that are your least favourite and show off your assets, then you'll always look amazing.

So yes, here I am sitting at my desk drinking a glass of white wine and eating chocolate, realising that in fact it is good to be curvy. And not that I have much insight into the male psyche, but I know enough to come to the conclusion that guys quite frankly don't give a crap what size you are... And those that do, well they're just not worth your time anyway, ladies.

As long as you get the balance right between eating healthy, exercising and still enjoying the things you love, then who cares about your curves, because you're obviously doing everything right. And even if you still have thunder thighs after that all, then like it or not, you were meant to be that way. The sooner you accept this fact, the sooner you'll be able to be more happy and confident.

After all, isn't it how you feel on the inside that counts for more than how you look on the outside?

This is no New Years Resolution... (considering it's now the end of February)... but this will be the change in my life that I need. I'm just going to take the plunge, cold turkey it. Gym, study, reading work, Brad, card games, friends. That will be my life. More gym, (lots) more study, more reading, more work = more saving, more (or maybe less ;) ) time with Brad, more "going back to traditional means of entertainment" time, more time with my friends that I love. I know, I know. You're probably thinking how on earth will I have time to add more to life without taking?? Well my answer is time management and balancing. I'll be able to study at the gym (i really do rekon I can do that), save more money (I've been doing so well thus far!! $2,000 in little over a month!!!), brad + card games/ friends + card games. See... It all works out for the better!

So... God knows how long this new regime will last. Here's hoping to a very long time (another 5 years to be exact before I need a "The Workforce Diet")

So I've just realised that my blog is COMPLETELY random! Seriously! My posts are always either complaints about life or really random comments that could be confused with mind teasers.

I should start making more normal posts. Hmm... I'm not sure if that's possible for me.

Book Review: Do You Come Here Often?

Title: Do You Come Here Often?
Author: Alexandra Potter
First Published: 2004
Genre: Fiction... but really just romance

Plot: DYCHO? follows Grace and her friends through life in central London as they fall in and out of love (which often happens in life, after all). The main plot, however, centers around Grace who takes a break from her fiance, Spencer, a successful, handsome lawyer, and unexpectedly bumps into her first love, Jimi.

Critique: From the very first chapter, you could sense the looming inevitability that you cannot escape from in Alexandra Potter's writing. However, that can be expected in a romance novel afterall, I suppose. Thy style in which Potter writes was curious. At moments she seems to have written like a modern Dickens with long sweeping sentences that carefully detail surroundings and environments, which should earn Potter applause. However, these moments of romantic prettiness is counteracted by the sudden plunge into simple syntax and phrases. The contruction of characters struck a chord with me also, as I found that many seemingly important character traits were developed later (and at times, right at the end) of the story which were inconsistent with what had already been constructed, and often were contradictions to previous traits.
Despite these criticisms, I believe they can be overlooked. Really, DYCHO? is just one of those books which you read as a light read, for example on the bus or plane -- it's not really going to change your life or you're not going to run around suggesting this book to everyone you meet, but it was still a worthy read to maintain your hope in fate and love. You only really need to read this book once, then but it back on the shelf, but I would certainly recommend reading Alexandra Potter's other novels which are quite similar to this one.

Rating: 3.5/5

I with I had something to believe in. Some kind of higher power to pray to in times of need.

But I don't believe in anything.

So I realised today that I have two great fears in life:

1. Opening my blinds of my window in the morning in fear of seeing something horrific in my backyard i.e. a person who shouldn't be there, and;

2. Walking into my room with the lights on at night when my blinds are up because I can't see out because of the lights, so I don't know what's out there and it could be bad.

Apparently there is no actual term for either of those conditions.

Nethertheless, I'm still completely freaked out every time I'm in such a situation.

...

No jokes.
